Named the dairy capital of the State, the community boasts an excellent school system, a vibrant downtown, three colleges; The College of Wooster, Ohio State ATI, and Ashland University,  a world-class community-owned hospital , a portfolio of growing businesses serving the global economy, and a network of volunteers and organizations dedicated to helping individuals succeed.

Aside from Wooster’s more than 600 acres of parkland, two public pools and a natatorium, urban bike trail network, and full calendar of festivals, educational events, and concerts, Wooster offers plenty for visitors and residents alike to enjoy.

Downtown shops offer artsy and eclectic goods along with the finest meals in the region, while the city’s retail district hosts national and international retailers, exquisite restaurants, and indoor activities. I visited a couple of stunning boutiques during my stay in Wooster. Lynch’s Irish Imports & Gifts which made me feel like I had walked right onto the Emerald Isle, filled with Irish imported products such as wool clothing and traditional Irish goods, while Blue Spruce Boutique felt like a cozy, yet modern cabin boasting an impressive inventory of high end clothing, kitchen ware, and trinkets.

On previous visits to Wooster, I have had the privilege to dine at City Square Steakhouse - the butter cake is TO DIE FOR! - as well as Green Leaf, AMAZING! But today, I enjoyed lunch at Basil Asian Bistro (enjoyed is an understatement), and God gave me the opportunity to buy meals for a couple of humble and kind local Veterans and to learn their stories of their lives and their love of their hometown.

My next visit, I plan to visit the historical Market Street Inn, a Victorian bed and breakfast, built in 1897, now owned by the Lynch family. They feature traditional Irish breakfasts that will blow your socks off, and they have the cutest “guard dog” (who happily invites EVERYONE into the door), a golden retriever, named Molly.

Wooster, named one of Ohio’s Best Hometowns in 2017, continues to be one of Ohio’s most innovative and exciting communities to live, work, and visit, which is why it is a Sweetness of Ohio.
