Nick Watson is an icon to come out of Tiffin University, he is loved by many by being a great person and a great athlete. Nick is from Cincinnati, Ohio and went to Tiffin University between the years 2016 and 2021. He was the quarterback and studied communications in Sports Journalism, wanting to be an ESPN commentator. Currently, he is pursuing his dream of trying to play in the NFL and his training started in December of 2021.

Nick has always been an athlete, playing since he was 5 years old, with the support of his father. He considered himself a child who grew up in two different worlds; the west side where he attended LaSalle High School, an all boys catholic academy, versus his home being in an underdeveloped and often ignored neighborhood. He had to learn to have that balanced life and adapt to his surroundings in order to keep his focus on his dreams.

There were a lot of different perspectives, changes that were curveballs in his life. Sometimes he got caught being unprepared and he decided in those times he had a big decision to make; grow up faster or grow up dumber. He continued playing football in high school and got a lot of recognition for his abilities and sportsmanship, this is when Tiffin University discovered and scouted him. He knew that this was going to be his home as it was filled with the opportunity of a full scholarship and connections to the NFL, which was a lifelong dream. Nick has been a part of Tiffin in all ways he found possible, he took participating to a whole different level and one example of this was Victory Day- an event set up for cognitively and physically impaired children to have an opportunity to play football or cheer and have their "moment in the sun". Nick ended up being as big of an inspiration off the field as he was on the field.

His experience was a rollercoaster and ended fairly well in his eyes, he had big goals that he wanted to achieve. Being able to change the program around, break records, reach goals was really all he could ask for and want out of the experience. He has had many great things come out of his life and in the aspect of football that was not losing often, he was winning. That being a part of his favorite experience, he loves that he was able to build relationships constantly because of football. As he is making his way to the NFL his goal is to go wherever he is blessed to be chosen. He wants to eventually become a starter and lead his team to the Superbowl.

When asking Nick about his Sweetness of Ohio, he was able to give me three answers: a person, place and thing. The place being Cincinnati as a whole, he makes it known that he will also represent his city wholeheartedly. The person being his baby, that's his whole heart and he wants to make sure that she is able to embrace Cincinnati for the rest of her life like he does. Football was a representation of the thing that was his sweetness.

Nick shared his words for the upcoming athletes, “Control all of your controllables. Control things such as your attitude. Be great at something, control it and be the best person you can be. Handle YOUR business while taking care of yourself in the process.” - All my Love, Kae
